Who am I?
My name is Scott "Old Navy" Hults. I am a retired US Navy Captain. I got the nickname, "Old Navy" from my fellow gym rats while I was preparing to enter my first bodybuilding contest in 2004, at the age of 61. My training was intense. They would say, "Hey, Old Navy, slow down man, take it easy, you aren't so young anymore." I liked the nickname, "Old Navy," so I kept it.
A Little History
Since March, 2005, I have competed in 30 tested and non-tested bodybuilding competitions, winning 50 weight, height, age class and Best Poser (5) trophies, including the 2006 FAME WNSO Men's Grand Masters World Championship in Toronto, a Masters Pro Card at the 2006 NGA National Bodybuilding & Figure Championships in Georgia, a second Masters Pro Card at the 2006 International Drug Free Athletics (IDFA) Canadian Classic II in Toronto, and in June, 2007 at age 64, a third Masters Pro Card from the FAME World Natural Sports Organization (WNSO) in Canada. In 2007, I placed Third in my first two NGA Pro Shows, was a Guest Poser four times and judged four contests. I competed in my final Pro Show of 2007, the WNSO FAME North American Championships in Miami, FL in November where I won my Grand Master Pro Class.
In 2008, I judged four contests, was a Guest Poser at one contest, competed in one Pro Show, the 2008 FAME Grand Master Pro World Championships in Toronto on June 14, winning the Silver Medal and was the runner-up at one Pro Qualifier, the 2008 NPA Nationals and Masters Universe in Ft. Lee, Virginia on June 28.
In 2009 I guest posed and judged three shows, promoted my own contest, the 2009 NGA Alabama Natural Open Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Model Championships - Pro Qualifier on July 11, placed Second at the 2009 FAME Masters World Championships in Montreal and won my fourth Pro Card by placing First in the Open Men's Lightweight Class and First in the Men's Masters 60+ Class at the 2009 NPA Nationals and Masters Universe in North Carolina on July 18th. I was the Master of Ceremonies at an NGA show in Atlanta in September and at another NGA show in Coral Springs, Florida in November.
In 2010 I will promote the 2010 NGA Alabama Natural Open Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Model Championships, a Super Pro Qualifier in Birmingham, Alabama on July 10. I will judge at least three shows and will again be the Master of Ceremonies for a few. I am the Fitness Director at a very large branch of the YMCA in Birmingham where I manage the personal training staff at the facility, and in addition to training YMCA clients, I also train off site and through Distance Training, bodybuilders and figure competitors as they prepare for their own contests. Finally, I will continue my personal diet and weight-training regimen in preparation for competing in my sixth Pro Show later in the year.
My Mission
This site is dedicated to all "Old Navy" men and women who think age is a statistic, not a burden. Here I share my experiences, and those of others who don't use the excuse of age to keep them from getting into and maintaining the best shape of their lives. This site includes articles about diet, training, supplements, clothing, equipment, contest preparation and injury prevention. I hope you find the information interesting and helpful.
One more thing. This site is also dedicated to the Glory of God. Our bodies are a gift from Him. What we do with this gift is up to us. Welcome Aboard!
